I have been diligently working on my Christmas Stocking for Gavin and you can see the progress has been slow but steady. It is difficult to limit myself to only an hour of stitching each night. As each stitch is laid the picture develops more fully beneath my fingers and my desire to see it completed grows. Being an adult requires that the dinner be made, dishes be washed, the laundry folded, phone calls made, birthday cards be written, and personal hygiene be attended to. I resent these mundane chores as they keep me from my loom but appreciate getting a good night’s sleep, being clean, and having food to eat. Work is really cramping my crafting time.
The Etsy site is on hold until I can get myself a little more organized. Right now I have so many projects lined up for family and friends it is difficult to concentrate on anything else. My research into Baltimore Album Quilts has just begun. Baltimore Album Quilts have a series of appliqued blocks that are designed by the quilter – although there are now a lot of patterns one can pick up these days. These types of quilts were popular in pre-Civil War Baltimore and the few I have seen are breathtaking. I have plans to make a baby blanket or a small lap quilt in this style. A fresh new quilt for you will be added to my list.
As for swimming in the polluted waters of the dating pool my advice still stands: find a better body of water. Online dating services are very helpful for this and although Gavin and I did not meet through my short tenure on eHarmony it did help get me outside of my normal circle of people and date people who were interesting and serious about being in a relationship. I recommend giving it a try in a few months if you are still not having luck. Or, even better, you could move to D.C. We have lots of nice prospects here.
Keep working on your writing and gathering ideas. Writing takes a lot of determination. Gavin is always eager to read about the characters on your blog; although his favorite, Quid, has not been seen recently…maybe you could check in with her?
I am off to spend an hour on my stitching…I will send another picture in my next letter as well.
